Are you passionate about animal health, data science, and tackling antimicrobial resistance (AMR)? The University of Liverpool is looking for a talented Health Data Scientist / Quantitative Epidemiologist to join a cutting-edge project that fills an important gap in veterinary public health.

🧬 About the Project: VetCLIN AMR

This exciting role is part of the VetCLIN AMR project—funded by the Veterinary Medicines Directorate—which focuses on AMR surveillance in companion animals, a key but underrepresented area in One Health strategies. We’re partnering with veterinary diagnostic labs across the UK to strengthen AMR monitoring and harmonise testing methods in line with EARS-Vet, the European AMR Surveillance Network in veterinary medicine.

🎓 Who We're Looking For

Whether you’re a recent postgraduate or a more experienced postdoctoral researcher, we want to hear from you! Candidates from a wide range of backgrounds are welcome—including health data science, epidemiology, veterinary science, bioinformatics, computer science, and applied statistics.

Qualifications by Grade:

  • Grade 7: PhD (or near completion), Master’s, or equivalent experience

  • Grade 6: BSc or equivalent relevant background

You should be confident with R programming (advanced skills for postdocs), able to communicate clearly with collaborators from various academic disciplines, and have a genuine interest in animal health and infectious disease research.


⏳ Contract Details

  • Start Date: 1 August 2025

  • End Date: 30 September 2025

  • Potential Extension: Until 31 March 2026

  • Some flexibility for remote or part-time working (0.8 FTE)
